Blandy & Blandy Helps to Raise Millions for Cancer Research Charity

Blandy & Blandy has received a gold award from Cancer Research UK, in recognition of the amount of money the firm and its clients have raised for the charity.

Blandy & Blandy has been supporting Cancer Research UK’s will scheme, for people aged 55 and over in Reading and Henley-on-Thames, for the past 18 years, giving guidance and support to those wishing to write a Will or update an existing one.

During that time nearly £1.5 million has been pledged as part of the scheme, while overall the firm and its clients have contributed more than £4 million through the scheme, gifts and pledges.

Blandy & Blandy is one of only two solicitors firms in Reading involved supporting Cancer Research UK in this way and the only firm in Henley-on-Thames.

Gifts in Wills fund over a third of the charity’s life-saving research. Cancer Research UK funds 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses and their vital ongoing work.

Partner Caroline Casagranda said: “Our thanks to Charlotte from Cancer Research UK for kindly visited our firm to present this gold award and to share such fantastic news.

We are very proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing to support the charity’s vital work.”

Clare Moore, Director of Legacies at Cancer Research UK, said: “We all reach a stage at some point in our lives where we start to look ahead and consider what will happen to our financial affairs in the future, when we may no longer be around.

“We are grateful to Blandy & Blandy for the expertise and sensitivity they show in providing clear information and guidance to help people in Reading and Henley to make the best choices for them.

It’s thanks to these vital donations and the generosity of our supporters that we are able to keep making progress in the fight against the disease.”

Together with their supporters, Cancer Research UK has played a role in developing 8 out the world’s top 10 cancer drugs; helped prove the link between tobacco and cancer, preventing millions of deaths worldwide and were a key player in the development of radiotherapy, which benefits more than 130,000 patients every year in the UK.

Research has come a long way but cannot rest while people still suffer. That’s why Cancer Research UK is committed to ensuring 3 in 4 people diagnosed with this disease will survive for 10 years or more in 2034. For further information, please visit www.cruk.org.
