Disputes & Tribunals

In today’s litigious society and with seemingly never ending changes to UK employment legislation, claims against employers are becoming increasingly common.

Whilst you do not want to appear to be a soft target to disgruntled employees, tribunal and court claims are expensive and time consuming. To minimise the risks and to control your costs it is more important than ever to take advice from lawyers experienced in guiding employers through the minefield of contentious employment law.

Our service

Our Employment team works with businesses across the Thames Valley and surrounding area advising them on all aspects of contentious employment law.

We try to avoid claims going to tribunal. However, when this proves impossible we will represent our clients at employment tribunals, EATs and at the High Court.

One of the firm’s partners is a part time employment appeals tribunal chairman and this provides us with a particular insight into their workings and helps us to present cases to achieve the best results for our clients.

We have particular expertise working with employers operating in industries with traditionally high staff turnovers such as the service industries, catering and construction as well as quasi public sector organisations, schools and charities.

Our employment lawyers regularly provide clients with:

  • Advice on the management of disciplinary procedures – in particular those relating to performance and grievance procedures
  • Advice on the management of sickness, absences and disability
  • Compromise agreements in respect to terminations
  • Advice and representation on claims of unfair dismissal based on actual or constructive dismissal
  • Breach of contract claims
  • Advice and representation on discrimination claims based on sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, religion and belief and age
  • Equal pay claims
