Legal Advice on Redundancies

Redundancy situations are difficult for all those involved. For employers the redundancy process can be a legal minefield. It is important that the correct dismissal procedures are followed to minimise the disruption to your business and to remove the risk of a claim for unfair dismissal.

Our experience

Our Employment team has extensive experience advising on redundancy situations. Our lawyers are particularly skilled at managing multiple redundancy scenarios in private, public and quasi public organisations and managing redundancy issues within the context of TUPE transfers – negotiating indemnities to eliminate risk to our client from procedural requirements and costs via indemnities.

We have particular expertise working with employers operating in industries with traditionally high staff turnovers such as the service industries, catering and construction as well as quasi public sector organisations, schools and charities.

Our employment lawyers advise clients on:

  • Whether there is a redundancy situation
  • Strategy for effecting redundancies
  • Consultation on a collective basis pursuant to statutory requirements
  • Formulation of selection matrixes
  • Election of employee representatives
  • DTI notification
  • Statutory and contractual redundancy payments
  • The inter relationship between TUPE and redundancy

Our approach

We pride ourselves on our personal approach. Getting to know our clients and their businesses so that our they know who they are working with and so that we can be proactive in the support that we provide.
