Blandy Wins National Training Award
6 Jun 2008
Blandy & Blandy has won the Best Trainer - Medium Size Regional Firm category at the Annual LawCareers.Net Training & Recruitment Awards at Forbes House in London. Over 200 guests from 77 law firms attended the awards on 5th June; which recognise the best recruiters and trainers among law firms in the UK.
It is particularly pleasing to have won since the awards were decided from the results of online surveys completed by trainees and newly qualified solicitors assessing their own experiences. This year saw over 3,000 respondents from firms across the UK, the largest response ever.
Each September Blandy & Blandy takes on three trainees who each spend six months in four of the firm's departments during their two year contract.
Most trainees share an office space with their assigned partner or solicitor as this normally gives the best opportunity for continuous professional supervision and for the trainee to experience the day-today challenges of a qualified solicitor.
It is testiment to the quality of our training that many of the firm's trainees remain with the firm after qualifying and go on to build their careers with the firm. Today about half of the current partners and solicitors are previous trainees.
Managing Partner Phil D'Arcy says:
"Our trainees are very important to the firm and I would like to think this award is some recognition for them and their commitment; the efforts of all those who train and supervise our trainees on a daily basis; as well as the firms approach to training and helping them develop."
