Brenda Long is a partner in our leading Family Law team.
Brenda has considerable experience in relation to financial settlements arising out of divorce/dissolution of civil partnership, particularly where there are significant and less straightforward assets, for example, companies, share options, enterprise Investment Schemes and trusts. This experience enables her to advise on settlement early on and to identify the strengths (and weaknesses) of a case, providing clear and concise advice.
Brenda is particularly experienced at advising on and drafting pre-nuptial agreements, which aim to protect assets on marriage or civil partnership. In addition, Brenda advises on the complex area of law relating to cohabitees. This includes drafting cohabitation agreements and declarations of trust to document the position at the start of a relationship, as well as acting for one party when making or faced with claims by a former partner. She advises on the whole range of issues arising out of new relationships or relationship breakdown, including those relating to care of and financial support for children, enforcement of orders, and variation of maintenance applications.
Brenda is a qualified family mediator and a trained collaborative lawyer. She is a member of Resolution, a body which aims to resolve family law matters through a constructive approach.
Brenda is highly recommended in the UK's leading guides to law firms, Chambers UK and The Legal 500 and is featured in the Citywealth Leaders List. She is also a member of the Law Society’s Family Law panel. Blandy & Blandy LLP was named as a finalist for 'Family Law Firm of the Year - South' at the Family Law Awards in London.
Brenda has appeared on national television and BBC radio as a family law expert and has written articles for the Family Law Journal and other leading publications.
