Looking Ahead - A Message from our Chairman, Nick Burrows

Dear clients and contacts

Ordinarily in June we would have be looking forward to welcoming guests to our annual summer garden party, a longstanding tradition and always a very enjoyable occasion. Once again, this sadly is not possible this year.

I would therefore like to take this opportunity to say thank you.

Firstly, to all of our clients, private and commercial, for choosing to work with our firm, and in many cases trusting us to provide them with legal advice and support over the longer term.

We look forward, hopefully, to inviting more clients back into our offices in the months ahead, having introduced a series of measures to ensure that they are COVID-secure. We are now equally experienced in working with our clients remotely as we are in person, and adept at dealing with matters in this newer way, meaning that you can expect the same expert legal advice and excellent client care on which our reputation is based, however you decide to work with us in the future.

Secondly, we also greatly value and appreciate our role within the professional community and we look forward to renewing and developing further our relationships with other leading firms and professionals in the region, as restrictions hopefully soon ease.

Lastly, I would like to thank colleagues, whose homes have also become their workplaces and in many cases their children’s schools during the past year, for all of their hard work, dedication and professionalism during this very challenging period.

We are immensely proud to be part of the towns of Reading and Henley-on-Thames, and indeed the wider Thames Valley, and we greatly value and appreciate our place within these communities.

We are delighted to be supporting two fantastic local charities based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, BIBS – Babies in Buscot Support and The Royal Berks Charity, over a three year period. The key role that the Hospital and its staff play in our lives and the fantastic work of everyone in the NHS has been impossible to miss throughout the past 15 months.

We have recently donated over £8,000 to our adopted charities and we hope to be able to add much more to that total between now and 2023.

I would like to wish you a happy and healthy summer and we look forward to continuing to work with you in the future.

Kind regards

Nick Burrows
