Firm Hosts Staff ‘Wellbeing Week’

Walk

The week commencing 6 November began with a lunchtime group walk for staff at at Blandy & Blandy LLP, as the firm kicked off its ‘Wellbeing Week’.

On Tuesday staff were joined by an experienced volunteer from Reading Samaritans for a thought provoking talk on mental health and the importance of awareness in the workplace. Staff were guided on factors to look out for in themselves and in others and on how to address any challenges when they arise.

The following day, Cathy Forman, Senior Practice Nurse at the Bell Surgery in Henley-on-Thames, discussed living a healthy lifestyle more widely, including advice on nutrition, relaxation and exercise.

Nearly £300 was raised for Reading Samaritans, one of the two charities the firm currently supports, through a staff raffle and dress down day. Prizes included an extra day off work and a day at Nirvana Spa. Other initiatives included lunchtime get togethers, well attended by staff in both Reading and Henley-on-Thames, and free fruit for all staff throughout the week.

October saw both the UK’s nationwide Health and Wellbeing Week and World Mental Health Day.

Chairman Brenda Long said: “Thank you to our speakers for reminding our staff of these very important issues. We all live very busy lives and our own wellbeing is often the last thing on our minds, but of course it should be one of the first.

We value our ongoing relationships with the Bell Surgery and Reading Samaritans and I am delighted that we continue to raise thousands of pounds for the charity.”
