Wednesday 8 March marked International Women's Day and Blandy & Blandy continues to help lead the way in the legal sector.
According to the Solicitors Regulation Authority's (SRA) 2022 report, 'How diverse is the legal profession?', "Women are underrepresented at partner level in firms of all sizes, but to a greater extent in the largest law firms." It found that, on average, only 35% of partners in all law firms in England and Wales are women.
Chairman and partner Nick Burrows, who succeeded Blandy & Blandy’s first female chair, appointed in 2016, explains: “We are very proud of the fact that nine (56%) of our 16 partners are women and to continue to set a strong example when it comes to gender equality in the workplace, at all levels.
This balance has not come through design but instead reflects Blandy & Blandy’s longstanding support for women in business, with many of our female partners having progressed into partnership over time (in several cases starting out at the firm as trainees), reflecting their significant contributions to the sustained success of our firm. Two thirds of our current senior associates and associates are also women, continuing this path.”
