Colleagues Present to Charities at Almshouse Association Seminar

Colleagues recently presented to almshouse charities based around the country at a seminar hosted by The Almshouse Association.

Partner Nick Burrows, in the firms Charities & Education team, explored the potential benefits of, and procedures involved in, the incorporation of almshouse charities, or almshouse charity trustee bodies.

Jonathan Dinsdale, a senior associate in the Dispute Resolution team, focused on property related issues including how charities can best protect themselves when faced with anti-social behaviour from residents, fraudulent applications for accommodation, independent living criteria and issues surrounding Wills and legacies.

Blandy & Blandy is experienced in advising national and local charities, universities, schools, colleges and student unions, charitable trusts, charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs), companies limited by guarantee, community interest companies (CICs), social enterprises and philanthropists, as well as trustees and governors.

The firm’s expertise in working with clients in the charity sector is recognised in The Legal 500, whilst Nick Burrows is cited as a ‘leading individual’ in the area of charity law. The firm’s Dispute Resolution team is also recommended in both The Legal 500 and Chambers UK, as are other commercially-focused teams including Corporate & Commercial, Employment, Commercial Property and Planning & Environmental.
