Jonathan Gater Sworn in as Under Sheriff for Berkshire

Joint managing partner Jonathan Gater was sworn in as Under Sheriff of the Royal County of Berkshire alongside High Sheriff Lucy Zeal at Reading Crown Court on 2 April.

The ceremony was presided over by Resident Judge HH Judge Norton.

The role of Under Sheriff has been held by a representative at Blandy & Blandy for many years. Jonathan Gater (pictured second from from right) has held the role since 2002.

The first recorded High Sheriff of Berkshire died in the Battle of Hastings at the start of the Norman conquest in 1066. The role is now largely ceremonial but carries the status of being the Queen’s highest judicial officer in the county.
