We are aware of a current scam, involving emails attempting to misuse the name of certain law firms, and would like to remind clients and other parties to please be aware.
These fraudulent communications typically use email addresses that are very similar to a firm’s genuine domain name, for example “@blaindy.co.uk” as opposed to “@blandy.co.uk”, and may contain attachments that can conceal malicious software, be requesting payment of an invoice or seeking to obtain an individual’s banking details.
Genuine emails from Blandy & Blandy only use the “@blandy.co.uk” domain and should look the same as earlier email communications received from our firm. Blandy & Blandy has not changed its bank account details.
If you receive a communication purporting to be from Blandy & Blandy and you are in any doubt about whether or not it is genuine, please telephone your usual contact at our firm or call our main reception on 0118 951 6800 and we will be happy to reassure you.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) maintains a ‘Scam Alert’ database, which also provides information about known issues.
