Tasha Bevan-Stewart Contributes to Resolution’s Family Law Handbook

Partner Tasha Bevan-Stewart, in our leading Family Law team, has co-authored a chapter on ‘Out of Court Solutions’, focusing on collaborative law, in Resolution’s latest Family Law Handbook.

According to Resolution, the family lawyers’ association, the Handbook "is an essential primer for anyone practicing Family Law, including experienced practitioners" and it "should have a place on all solicitors shelves".

Introducing the book, The Right Honourable Sir Andrew McFarlane, President of the Family Division, notes that: “There has been a steady move away from the resolution of marital or parental disputes by a court. Those practising in the Family field need to be fully familiar with the growing variety of approaches to dispute resolution… with trial in court being seen as the method of last, rather than first, resort.”

Tasha is involved in promoting out of court methods in her work with Resolution, the family lawyers’ association which endorses constructive conflict resolution. She co-chairs their Collaborative Working Party which supports and develops collaborative practice throughout the jurisdiction.

Tasha views collaborative cases as a “win-win” for all parties involved, keeping costs down and focusing on constructive outcomes. She regularly observes how the collaborative approach benefits and supports clients through separation, especially those with children.

Tasha also a Resolution-trained mediator who can assist couples to resolve both child-related and financial issues in mediation.
