Blandy & Blandy has been recognised at the Women in Business Awards 2016.
The firm was named as a ‘role model’ in the ‘enlightened employer’ category, with solicitors Victoria Charlesson and Gemma Tipping collecting the award from Baroness Michelle Mone OBE.
As the organiser explained: “Women in Business celebrates, encourages and inspires successful and aspiring business women in the south. It is not about the exclusion of men, but the inclusion of women.
It celebrates and spotlights organisations and individuals who have excelled in their specific business, profession or organisation. We acknowledge the real value that diversity can add to our businesses through productivity and profitability and recognise those who are championing change.”
Nine of Blandy & Blandy’s partners are women, a balance that is reflected throughout the firm’s legal, management and support teams. In 2016 Brenda Long also became the firm’s first female chair.
Brenda said: “Blandy & Blandy encourages progression regardless of gender and our broadly equal division of male and female partners and a female chairman demonstrates this.
This is a far better ratio than the legal profession in general achieves and we have done this without having specifically pro female policies. We are delighted that our achievements have been recognised by this award.”
