Experienced Notaries in Reading
COVID-19 and Making a Notarial Appointment
If you or your business have dealings outside of the UK, you may require documents to be authenticated by a notary to be accepted by public and legal authorities in another country.
Our two qualified and highly experienced notaries, Philip D'Arcy and David Few, who are also partners and solicitors at Blandy & Blandy Solicitors, provide a comprehensive range of notarial and legalisation services to both individuals and businesses of all sizes.
Offering unrivalled coverage in Reading and the surroinding area, we can provide you with a convenient and cost-effective service and we are able to assist with urgent matters at very short notice.
Where helpful, we are also happy to attend appointments at your premises. We routinely advise organisations based in central Reading, at leading business parks including Green Park, Thames Valley Park, Winnersh Triangle and Arlington Business Park and elsewhere in the area.
Does Our Business Need a Notary Public?
Generally speaking, if you have been asked to have a document certified, notarised, verified or similar for private or business use overseas, you will require the services of a notary public rather than a solicitor. If you are unsure, please contact us and we will be happy to advise and arrange an appointment if needed.
Please see our frequently asked questions (FAQ) before doing so and note that appointments are not available at the firm's Henley-on-Thames office.
What is the Role of a Notary Public?
Notaries can examine and authenticate a wide range of private and business documents, including those listed below, witnessing or obtaining certified copies of these. The notaries’ role, which bears many similarities to the one undertaken in Roman times, is to check for fraud, that you understand the document(s) you are signing and that you are happy to do so. A notarised document will bear the notary’s signature and official seal of office.
Legalisation Services for Your Business
We can also handle any legalisation requirements you or your business may have, whether at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office or any other relevant embassy/consulate. These can be dealt with quickly using our London agent’s expedited service in cases of urgency.
Please note that due to restrictions at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, it is not possible to obtain Legalisation or Apostilles from the UK Government by post at present and it is necessary to engage an accredited Agent to deliver and collect the documents. We have agents who can deal with this.
