Solicitors For You & Your Family

Property Disputes & Litigation

Specialist solicitors in our Dispute Resolution team, based in Reading and Henley-on-Thames, can help you if you are having issues and find yourself potentially facing a dispute concerning your property.

Specialist Property Dispute & Litigation Solicitors in Reading & Henley-on-Thames

We understand that issues effecting your home, or another property that you rent or own, can place a significant strain on you and your family and your financial situation. We believe it is important to address these issues early on and will work with you to reach the best possible resolution. This may be achieved through “pre-action” correspondence with the other party, negotiation, other methods of alternative dispute resolution such as mediation, applications through the Land Registry, or through court or tribunal proceedings.

Ownership disputes

Our solicitors can assist you with property ownership disputes. You may be entitled to a share in a property which is not in your name; or you may own a property with other family members, friends or colleagues. Whilst you may have agreed in the past about how the property was dealt with (for example, to rent it out, develop it or sell it at some point in future), the situation may have changed and this may have led to a disagreement over what to do with the property and your relationship may have broken down with the co-owner. We can assist you to reach an agreement, to establish your share in the property or proceeds of sale, and if necessary, to force a sale of the property.

Your rights and the rights of others over property

You may be experiencing issues with exercising rights over your property or your neighbour’s property, or require advice on the actions being taken by others which are impacting on you and your property. This might include rights of way, rights of light, restrictive covenants or questions over ownership of land. We can help you address these concerns and find a practical solution.

Landlord and tenant issues

We also advise on all landlord and tenant related issues, representing both landlords and tenants when they experience difficulties.

During an initial meeting or telephone call, a solicitor will gather the relevant information and documentation from you, listen to your concerns, establish your objectives and discuss the options available to you, in order to achieve a solution as quickly and as cost effectively as possible.

Our experience and expertise

We can advise you in the early stages, perhaps before the matter has even become contentious, right through to its conclusion.

While we are highly experienced in pursuing and defending disputes through litigation and in the courts and tribunals, we recognise the demands that unresolved disputes can place on you in terms of time and costs and will work to help you avoid the need for litigation where possible.

Our dedicated Dispute Resolution team is recommended in the UK’s leading guides to law firms, Chambers UK and The Legal 500. We can also call on colleagues across the firm who specialise in a wide range of areas, including residential conveyancing, residential and commercial property, and planning and environmental law, when needed.

More widely, our full range of legal services allows you to seamlessly and cost-effectively manage all of your needs using a single firm of solicitors.
