This role:

We currently have the following vacancy for an experienced solicitor to join our Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts team, based in Reading.

Solicitor (5+ years’ PQE)

You will work on a varied and challenging caseload in a very busy department.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing an agreed caseload of clients in conjunction with the senior solicitors and Department Manager
  • Processing clients’ cases on a timely and cost effective basis
  • Maintaining the highest professional standards in accordance with the firm’s objectives and comply with the firm’s quality standards
  • Keeping clients fully informed of the range of services that the firm offers
  • Supervising junior staff, particularly trainees, from time to time

The successful candidate will:

  • Have at least a 2.1 degree
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ PQE
  • Have completed training at a recognised and respected firm
  • Be enthusiastic and hard working
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Have experience of working in a specialist private client team
  • Be a team player and reputable 
  •  Share and embody our values of excellence, integrity and approachability

Legal Secretary

This varied role will primarily support our team with secretarial and administrative support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Production of documents and correspondence as required by lawyers in the team.
  • Efficient handling of telephone enquiries and calls. 
  • Provision of assistance and dealing with tasks as delegated.
  • File administration and data management.

 The successful candidate will:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a good typing speed (at least 60wpm) and accuracy.
  • Have proficient knowledge of MS Word and other Office products and ideally experience of working with a practice management system or large database.
  • Bring experience of working in a professional environment, preferably in a law firm.
  • Be enthusiastic, flexible and efficient with a helpful and friendly manner for dealing with clients and colleagues.
  • Be a good team player, with a willingness to offer support to others in the team.
